Heavy Scrap and Machinery

Town Creek handles the loads other yards would rather not see. Structural steel off a teardown. A press that has not run in a decade. Conveyor, transformers, tanks, heavy cable, plate steel by the ton.

If you are clearing a plant, closing a shop, or finishing a demolition job, call before the first piece comes out. We will work out container sizes, swap schedules, and whether towing makes more sense than hauling.

  • Structural steel, plate, beams, and heavy cable
  • Presses, conveyors, motors, transformers, and tanks
  • Roll-off containers in 10, 20, 30, and 40 yard sizes
  • Towing for forklifts, machinery, and equipment that will not roll
  • Mill-direct brokerage for recurring industrial volume

Town Creek Yard Questions

Where is the Town Creek scrap yard?
135 Water Street in Town Creek, in Lawrence County. We are right in town, easy in and easy out, with room for trailers and trucks. If your GPS shows the listing under a slightly different name, you are in the right place.
What are the Town Creek hours?
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Saturday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Closed Sunday. Saturday mornings fill up fast, so a weekday run usually gets you unloaded quicker.
Do you serve Moulton, Courtland, and Decatur?
Yes. Town Creek is the closest Thornton yard for most of Lawrence County, including Moulton, Courtland, Hillsboro, and Trinity, and it is a reasonable drive from Decatur and Huntsville. If you are up around Athens, our Rogersville yard may be closer depending on which side of town you are on.
Can you pick up scrap from a job site?
We can. Roll-off containers come in 10, 20, 30, and 40 yard sizes, and we run flatbeds, open-top trailers, and box vans for loads that do not fit a container. For demolition work we clear structural steel, iron, and heavy cable straight off the site.
Do you buy machinery and industrial equipment?
Yes, and Town Creek sees a lot of it. Presses, conveyors, motors, transformers, tanks, and machinery of almost any size. If it will not roll or load, ask about towing. If you are clearing out a plant or a shop, call before you start and we will figure out containers and scheduling.
What do I need to bring?
A valid state or federal photo ID. If you are selling a vehicle 12 years old or newer, bring the title. Anything older than that only requires the VIN so we can run it. We do not accept stolen material, and every transaction is recorded as Alabama law requires.
How much do you pay for scrap in Town Creek?
The same competitive prices as our other two yards, and they move with the market. Copper pays the most per pound, steel the least, and clean sorted material always beats a mixed pile. Call (256) 685-3727 for today's number on what you have.
