Farm Scrap and Old Iron

Every farm in Lauderdale County has a spot where the old iron ends up. A rusted-out baler behind the shed. A hay rake nobody has hitched in fifteen years. Cattle panels, grain bins, well casing, fence wire, an implement that broke in 1998.

That pile is worth money, and hauling it off clears real estate you can actually use. We take farm equipment, tractors, implements, structural steel, and cable. Bring what fits on a trailer, and call us about what does not.

  • Tractors, balers, harrows, plows, and implements
  • Grain bins, feeders, cattle panels, and fence wire
  • Well casing, pipe, and irrigation hardware
  • Roll-off containers dropped at your place for a big cleanout
  • Towing for equipment that will not roll or load

Rogersville Yard Questions

Where is the Rogersville scrap yard?
750 County Road 76 in Rogersville, in Lauderdale County. We are off the main road out of town, easy to find and easy to pull a trailer into. This is the original Thornton yard, and it has been here since the family started the business in 1974.
What are the Rogersville hours?
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Saturday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Closed Sunday. All three of our yards keep the same hours.
Do you take farm equipment and old implements?
Yes, and we see a lot of it. Old balers, harrows, plows, hay rakes, grain bins, cattle panels, and tractors that have not run in years. If it is too big to load or will not roll onto a trailer, call and ask about towing or a container.
Can you bring a container out to my farm or job site?
We can. Roll-off containers come in 10, 20, 30, and 40 yard sizes, and we run them throughout Lauderdale County and the surrounding area. For a barn cleanout or a fence line full of old metal, a container beats twenty trips with a truck.
Do you buy scrap from Killen, Lexington, and Anderson?
Absolutely. Rogersville is the closest Thornton yard for most of eastern Lauderdale County, including Killen, Lexington, Anderson, Elgin, and out toward Athens. If you are on the Florence side of Killen, our Florence yard on Canal Street may be a shorter drive.
What do I need to bring?
A valid state or federal photo ID, a driver license works best. If you are selling a vehicle 12 years old or newer, bring the title. Older than that and we just run the VIN. We do not accept stolen material of any kind.
How much do you pay?
It depends on the metal and on what the market is doing that day. Copper pays the most per pound, steel the least, and condition matters as much as the metal. Call the Rogersville yard at (256) 247-0708 and we will tell you today's price for what you have.
